Solar Permit Fees Take Hike

Solar Permit Fees Take Hike

When you install the power of the sun on your rooftop, you harness some of nature for good use. Solar panels are becoming more and more common in the United States, as they have grown in Germany and Spain. How did this happen? Because government has been subsidizing the installation and purchase costs, thus incentivizing those high ticket purchases, often in the $30,000 range out of pocket.
So why is the City of San Diego, the home of "Solar America" going to increase the fees to install solar by six times the existing fees?
That's correct. The new fees are $565 to get your plan approved and your system inspected. They were $93. So one government agency is subsidizing and the other increased taxes by six fold. There's something wrong here.
And the County of San Diego continues to charge zero. The county government waives the permit fees so that those who live in unincorporated areas will be more likely to go solar. What do you think about these tax hikes and solar permit fees? Is it just a drop in the bucket or will it change your desire to use renewable energy effectively?
